PayMe
A PinPay Solution
Online payment solution for businesses to get paid by anyone, in any way. Businesses are offered a range of payment collection methods, from sending out online payment links and invoices via email/SMS, to providing customers with a an easy way to subscribe to a recurring billing plan.
My Role
The PayMe solution was the final product I spearheaded as Product Manager during my 7+ years at PinPay. It took around 6 months to roll out the initial MVP with several pilots launched, before I left the company.
During my time on this product, I had worked with a diverse team consisting of a product owner, UX/UI designer, 2 developers and a tester.
Product
The PayMe solution offers businesses with an easy way to collect payments, create campaigns and manage their customers. Companies of any size can register to the platform, create an account and immediately start collecting payments from customers.
The platform enables the creation of payment links that are used to collect funds from customers online. Companies would have to create a payment page and configure the details before sending the link to their customers either through email or SMS.
Upon clicking the link, customers will be redirected to a secure webpage where they can then pay using their bank cards or PinPay account (assuming they are PinPay customers).
In addition to offering an expanding a business's payment channel, the product also provides a solution for other use cases, such as: freelancers who wish to get paid for their services (users part of the gig-economy), SMEs selling products via social media, charity organizations reaching customers for donations through fund raising campaigns, and more.
Story
One of the questions we frequently faced at PinPay was: how can we help businesses reach their customers and collect payments? While PinPay provided a hefty suite of bill and e-voucher payment solutions for companies of all sizes, we initially did not yet support the collection of online payments (neither single nor recurring).
As part of our evolving product roadmap, PinPay's vision to expand its digital payment offering included designing a solution that would enable merchants to collect payments seamlessly through an online platform. The payments space in Lebanon was still catching up to the innovations happening in the region (mainly the United Arab Emirates), with only a few key players operating within this space in the local market. We knew there was a need, and after validating and understanding the problem with several of our current clients, we set out to design the initial MVP of the product.
Some notes and sketches
Digging through my old notebooks, I was able to fish out some images of the early days of product planning and discovery/validation meetings with clients.
Here is a snapshot highlighting some of the problems faced by one of our clients that operated in the donation space. This particular charity organization had trouble reaching donors for donations and was interested in a digital solution that would help collect payments in bulk. The payment link coupled with the campaign feature was an excellent way for this client to launch collection campaigns to the masses via email, SMS, social media and their official website.
Below are additional notes on the payment page itself and the configurations that the merchant would need to fulfill before creating it.
Below is a screenshot of how the charity organization can easily create its donation campaign through the web portal by filling in the different required fields.
Final Design
The final design was implemented on Adobe XD by our UX/UI designer for all workflows done on the merchant portal and customer user journeys.
Before leaving PinPay, we managed to launch the MVP version of the product with several friendly companies (existing client companies).
